Christmas News

Ok, we had a little scare on Christmas Eve. I had an appointment to do my glucose screening, but Dr. Cohan thought my cervix was dilating when she checked me. She sent us to the hospital in the Med Center right away! Talk about a scary ride to the hospital. We spent 2 1/2 hours in Labor and Delivery buy luckily the contractions I've been having are not stressing the baby out, and my cervix does not seem to be dilated. We also went for an ultrasound appt on the 26th and got lucky enough to get the room with the 3D/4D Ultrasound machine! Jayden looks so cute on the ultrasound machine and we got some pictures to show! We also took random Christmas pictures showing my belly. Enjoy!

7 month Doctor's Appointment

I went to the doctor yesterday and we heard Jayden's heartbeat : ) The nurse said I've gained 2 lbs. from the last month I was there and my blood pressure was still low. I'm surprised it is as low as it is (106/62) when normal is 120/80. I'll take all the good news I can get. I will have to come back next week to do the glucose test (ugghh) and then Friday we get to see Jayden again in another ultrasound! The last time I had one was at 5 months so I am curious to see how big he's gotten. The friboids have gotten bigger too so I'm curious to see how big those suckers have gotten. Hopefully my placenta has moved up a little bit, but we will wait and see. I am starting to really like Dr. Cohan because she is so calm about everything. She still has not ruled that a C-Section is the only way Jayden is coming out, even though I know it will most likely be one.

Today we bought some more stuff for the nursery. It is starting to come together! Enjoy the pictures!!!

The Nursery

Well, we have officially started the nursery! We decided to paint the walls blue and beige-yellow color. Speedy painted the walls and it took him most of the day on Sunday. (You will see pictures of him painting and trying to watch the Texans play at the same time : ) ) The furniture was delivered on Sunday. The dresser and chest were delivered done, but we had to put the crib together. They told us it wouldn't be that hard, and it really wasn't. It took Speedy maybe a couple of hours to do it. We just need the mattress now so I can set out his Vintage Mickey bedding. We still haven't decided if we are going to paint a Mickey playing soccer on one of the walls or put some wall stickers I saw at Toys R Us. I put all his clothing (that came from my nephew- Mateo) and it took up all drawers and I only put in up to 6 months size. I really don't need any more clothes because I don't know where I'm going to put them! Ha ha. I guess that is a good problem to have : ) Can't wait to really see the finishing room, but I think it is a great start!

Thanksgiving Day

Ok, so I am a little late on a Thanksgiving update. We spent the day with my family at my aunt's house. My parents have been vacationing in Peru for the last couple of weeks, so they missed Thanksgiving this year. It was great to spent time with my sister, brother in law, nephew, brother and other family. My cousin Wendy has a nice, expensive camera and she was in the mood to take pictures, so I have a lot of belly shots! We also went to my in laws and spent the rest of the day over there.
We went to our 6 month appointment two weeks ago, but the doctor said I am not as far along as I thought I was. Jayden is just bigger than he is supposed to be : ) I guess that is a good thing.

I am thankful for Jayden, and thankful that he is a healthy boy and for my husband, family and friends this year!

6 months along

Ok, so I am now 6 months pregnant! We went for our check up last week and heard the baby's heart beat. We will not find out how much bigger he has gotten until next month when we get another ultrasound. I sure hope he is getting bigger, if not, that just means I'm just gaining the weight : ) We bought the nursery bedding online and some other stuff for the nursery and bought the baby furniture as well. We decided to go with the one from Babies R Us because we think the lighter brown is more for a boy. We will get it delivered Dec. 6. Can't wait to see how the finished nursery will look! Right now, it looks nothing like a nursery. I have so much stuff my sister has given me from Mateo and it looks like an earthquake hit the room : )

These past few days have also been very sad. One of my bestest friends that I have known for 16 years lost her nephew last Friday. He was 4 months old! It has been a heartbreaking experience and I just wanted to wish the Rivera family all the love and guidance God can give you in these difficult times. RIP Baby Andrew- You will be missed! Heaven has gained a beautiful new angel.

Jayden Andrew Gonzales

I finally scanned the ultrasounds!!! We have so many, and I need to look for the first couple of ultrasounds we got, but these are the latest one. Enjoy!

So, I think we have finally settled on the spelling of the baby's name. There are many different spellings- Jayden, Jaden, Jadon and so on. We actually chose our children's names (I have the girl's name picked out too), before we even got married. I think we were already engaged and we were discussing how many children we wanted, and I couldn't tell you where we got Jayden from but we did : )

So last night I woke up in the middle of the night and was kind of worried about his movements. He is definitely not a day baby. Everytime I feel him moving, is usually at night. Sure enough, last night, I layed in bed for about 2 hours and he was moving the whole entire time. Must as I say, it was 3am! Let's just hope when he is born, he sleeps through the night : )

He kicked Daddy

I've been noticing the baby kicking at night, right before I got to bed, lately. Everytime I feel him kick hard, I yell for Speedy to come feel my tummy. Well, last night, we came back from the movies, and sure enough he started kicking hard. Speedy finally felt him kick! He was amazed to feel his hard kick : ) Well, I sure hope we have a professional soccer player in my tummy. ha ha

I am attaching a 22 week pregnant picture. It's not great quality- I took it with my iphone, but I keep forgetting to take tummy pictures.

Baby Registering and Furniture Shopping

Ok we went to Babies R Us to register this past weekend. What an experience! We keep discussing different options on baby monitors. Of course I want a video monitor. My sister said it is the best thing and gives you piece of mind when you can see the baby sleeping peacefully. Speedy was stunned that I wanted a monitor that was $139. I thought that was a good price. But this one was not in color. Little does he know, I switched it to a color one online. The new one is $179. Better quality and reception! It's not my fault all the good things are expensive. I think we have finalized our decision on the nursery theme- Mickey Mouse playing sports. He wanted sports and I wanted a Disney character so it worked out perfectly.

We are still going back and forth on baby furniture. We have looked at Babies R Us, USA Baby and Baby's First Furniture. We really like one at USA Baby and Babies R Us. We will be making our final decision soon, we hope. We can't wait to get the nursery together! So far I have stuff all over the baby's room. At the end of the day on Sunday, Speedy threw himself on one of the beds at Babies R Us and said that this stuff was exhausting. I noticed a man laugh at him as he was trying to calm down his toddler. I figure we better enjoy this stuff now! The first picture is furniture from USA Baby, the second is Babies R Us and the third is the theme for the nursery.

Starting off

Ok, so I decided to start blogging. I have been reading a lot of different blogs lately and they are all interesting- even people that I don't even know : ) We have friends and family all over the world so we will keep everyone updated this way.
Benito "Speedy" and I (Katherine) have been married for 5 years. We got married August 2, 2003. We knew we always wanted to have children, but we never found the perfect time. Come to figure out- there is never a perfect time! I am a pharmaceutical sales rep and Speedy is an exercise technician at an occupational therapy clinic. He actually really enjoys his work, and I enjoy it most days. He just received his degree in Business Management and I got my MBA. We are still trying to decide what to do with our degrees! As we were finishing school this summer, we got pregnant! We found out July 16th, and I am now 20 weeks or 5 months pregnant. It has been a blessing like no other to feel our little angel growing inside of me (ok, I'm the only one that feels him for now), but I have also felt the pain as well. I just found out I have 4 fibroids in my belly. They do not harm the baby, they just cause me pain and take up more room in my ever growing belly. I'm just glad our little boy is doing well and he seems to be enjoying himself in my belly. He kicked the doctor when she was trying to do an ultrasound, and said he is such a mover!
OK, I think that is it for now. I want to see if I could upload some pictures on here.
