Jayden is 9 months old!

I haven't been keeping up with Jayden's blog! Sorry, I've been so busy with Eli's blog, but I will try to update every month.
We went to Jayden's 9 month appt yesterday. He weighs 18 lbs 3 oz, which puts him in the 10th percentile! and he is 29 in long, which puts him in the 75th percentile! He loves to eat my moms soups, she blends them for him, but he won't put on too much weight! The doctor said not too worry as long as he is eating and gaining some weight at each appt. I think he will just be long and skinny like his daddy. (Yes, Speedy was super skinny until he was 21!) He already has 6 teeth, yeah you think he would put them to good use : )! The two lower teeth came in at 6 months, the two top but not dead center, came in at 8 months, and the middle top two teeth came in close to 9 months. He sleeps pretty well too. He has been sleeping through the night since he was 3 months old, but will wake up sometimes in the middle of the night. Most of the time he cries for a couple of minutes and goes right back to sleep. He also takes 3 naps during the day, after breakfast, after lunch and after dinner. They are ususally short- 30 minutes, and the one after lunch is the longest- sometimes 2 hours! He is definetely "creeping", and has been since he was 7 months old. He started picking himself from sitting position to standing and even takes a few steps while holding on. He gets on all fours and crawls a couple of steps, but that's it! His pediatrician said his son never crawled and walked at 8 1/2 months. He said not to worry about it either because Jayden is healthy.
Jayden loves dancing with mommy and playing with daddy. I just started getting him sports balls and he loves them! We were at the Nike store and I found the cutest, small soccer ball. He would not let the guy ring it up! He had to bring his scanner gun while Jayden held the ball.
Enjoy the pictures!

Jayden is 7 months old!

Jayden is getting so big! He is starting to sit up on his own and beginning his crawling pose. He got his 2 bottom teeth when he was 6 months old and looks like he is getting the top 2 now. He has been saying mama and is now working on papa! He has done two photo sessions already and is such a good little poser : ) He has such the personality- most of the time he is happy, but boy when he gets mad!
Enjoy the pictures!

Jayden is 5 months old!

Jayden is 5 months old today! He is growing up so fast. He started eating baby food today. My mom said he loved his applesauce and wanted more! We went to the Children's Museum a couple of weekends ago and will be going to Schlitterbahn this weekend. He is already starting to sit with support and loves being in a walker. It is so cute to see his personality come through. He loves to laugh and can play for hours with his daddy : ) And his cousin, Mateo is his favorite friend!

Enjoy the pictures.

We haved moved!

We finally moved into our new home! We are 3 miles from my sister's house and maybe 6-7 from my parents. We are finally getting settled in even though we still have plenty of boxes everywhere. It is so convenient to be so close to them. I am attaching pictures before the house was finished. I'll attach more once everything is in place : )

4 months old!

Jayden is 4 months old already! Yesterday we went to his doctor's appt. He is 13 lbs 14.5 oz and 25 in long. He is in 30% percentile for weight and 56% for height. His legs are so long it is so hard to get him to fill them up! He also started eating solids yesterday. He loved it! He also got his shots. He didn't do so bad during the day but at night he kept waking up crying. Tylenol eventually helped. He is already starting to roll over from side to side. We still have not transferred him to his crib yet. We are so attached to him and we don't even feel him at night because he sleeps all night. He is starting to outgrow so we know we will have to transfer him soon!

Jayden is 3 months old!

Jayden turned 3 months old on Wednesday, June 3rd. He is talking (baby talk) and picking up his head and getting so big now! My mom watches him and Mateo while I'm at work, and Mateo is so cute with him. As of last week, he started sleeping through the night : ) He has woken up early some nights but it is so nice to get long stretches of sleep at a time. We've been spending lots of time with family and can't wait to live closer!

It's June!

I figure I need to update a few pictures on here. We have been very busy with Jayden, especially since I am back to work. We are blessed that my mom can watch him while I'm working. We are also in the process of moving to Sugar Land! We will be 3 minutes away from my sister, so we are very excited! But first, we must sell our house in Jersey Village. So, yes we are already in that process, which is not always fun : (

I took Jayden to the doctor this past Saturday, he had a little cold. Well, he is already weighing 12 lbs 10 oz! He is really catching up : )

We attended a couple of Weddings- enjoy the pictures!

My Sister's Story

Hi everyone,
First, I want to apologize for reaching you through email form, but I want to reach as many people as possible.
As some of you may know, my twin sister had a seizure a couple of weeks ago. Tests showed a tumor and she had brain surgery to remove it. The surgery went really well and the neurosurgeon told us he was able to get entire tumor out. We received results of her biopsy on Thursday, May 14th: Grade 3 (out of 4) Astrocytoma Brain Cancer and will start chemotherapy and/or radiation in a couple of weeks.

I am writing this email to ask for your prayers, well wishes and positive thinking. Whatever you believe in, please keep my sister, Elizabeth and our family in your prayers. We believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking and she will get through this. This has been one of the toughest challenges we've ever faced, obviously, but my sister is the strongest person I know. Her spiritual and emotional strength is amazing! I finally was able to pull it together yesterday, and on a conversation with her, we both were calm and starting talking about the situation. This is what she said: " I am honored God has put me through this challenge. Only the strongest can survive this. This is why cancer is in the world and I will not be a victim." She is my inspiration and being with her gives me strength.
I told her she will have a million people praying for her, and she tells me she feels it already. She is so grateful for all the outpouring love and support from all our family and friends, and that is what is giving her strength, so thank you, in advance. That's is alll I am asking for: PLEASE PRAY FOR MY SISTER, ELIZABETH.

After the news of her biopsy results first hit, my first thought was anger and sadness. Then, I realized, my sister is still here with us. Some people do not have that chance. I had to remind myself of the things to be grateful for.
Here are a few things (of many) that I am grateful for:
* Thank you, God, for her seizure. That was the first sign of her tumor, and doctors were able to get it out.
* Thank you for our family and friends that have been so supportive through all this. This is what keeps her and the family going.
* Thank you for our boys: My son, Jayden (2 1/2 months) and Mateo (16 months). They are our strength and reminder of the future.
* And most importantly, thank you for giving her a second chance: It is aggressive cancer, but she can fight this!

Love,
Katherine

P.S Below is an email she sent out Thursday. Please keep her story going and thank you againg for all your prayers and support.

Hi everyone~

It has been a very emotional coaster ride these past 2 weeks. Many of you know that I suffered a seizure in the early morning of May 4th. The seizure was a result of a brain tumor that was removed on May 6th. I am doing well recovering from that but with cancer you can never be too careful. I will begin treatment as soon as possible (hopefully in 2 weeks once I'm fully recovered). I am soooo scared for what lies ahead of me but Pedro has been the strongest rock I can count on. We are committed to our faith and will only be positive through this. He already stood up to my huge family and told them he will not accept any negativity! I am strong because of him, and I am very grateful for it. This has been a shock and I will have lots of down moments, but we will fight through this. I ask for your prayers as we began this scary process. I am so happy for all your friendships. They mean everything to me. I love you all!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Well, I feel very blessed to be celebrating my 1st Mother's Day with my son and family. My sister is also feeling better from her surgery and we were able to enjoy good food (I think I gained my weight back: ( ) and watch the Rockets beat the Lakers. We have many blessings to be thankful for!

Jayden turned 2 months old on May 3rd. He weighed 11 lbs 4 oz and was 22 in long at his doctor's appt. He is doing much better from his ear infection too. He is smiling and talking away and it is the cutest thing ever : )

Enjoy the pictures!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! I truly enjoyed this Easter : ) It was great to get into the spirit of things with planning the Easter egg hunt at my sister's house and festivities for the kids. Even though Jayden was too little to participate, it was great to be involved and watch the older kids enjoy themselves. It was great to also celebrate our birthday today along with the boys, our hubbies, family and friends. It was a wonderful weekend! Thank you everyone! And our birthday is still not until Tuesday! Enjoy the pictures- I sure loved taking pictures of Jayden : )

1 month old already!

Jayden turned one month old on Friday, April 3. We also took him to the doctor and he is weighing 9 lbs 1 0z! He had gained exactly 3 lbs since he left the hospital. He also grew an inch and is 21 in long. He is getting so big already, and out growing his clothes like crazy.

3 weeks old

Jayden was 3 weeks old on Tuesday, March 24th. His umbilical cord also fell off that night at 430 in the morning! He is already getting so big and outgrowing his newborn clothes. Here are some pictures from this week. My cousin Charlie is holding Jayden in the picture (with help from my aunt!).

Happy St. Patty's Day and 2 weeks old birthday!

Jayden is two weeks old today on St. Patty's Day. His Grandma Gonzales bought him his First St. Patrick's Day shirt to celebrate the day. He is getting so big finally! He is also getting a little bit of colic. It is not terrible, but poor baby has some bad pain with it at times. I am trying Mylicon for now, but want to try Gripe Water next.
We hope everyone had a safe and fun day today and drank plenty of green beer for Speedy and I!

First Doctor's Appointment

Today we took Jayden to the doctor for his first doctor's appointment. He was hungry at the very same time we went in. I knew that was going to happen so I had a bottle ready. He was mad at the nurses for making him get naked and cried when he got weighed. The great thing was that he gained weight! He weighs 6 lbs 12 1/2 oz! Even the doctor was amazed how much weight he gained. (He left the hospital weighing 6 lbs 1 oz). He is still at the 25% percentile for weight.

It was also cold today so we were able to put his little bear outfit today. I think Mateo only wore it once because it is newborn size. Jayden is also finally able to start wearing 0-3 months. It still fits him big, but at least it does not fall off!

1 week old!

Jayden was a week old on Tuesday! Already, I know. He still has days and nights confused : ( My Grandma and sis in law are still here helping us. I don't know what I am going to do without them! My mother in law and sister are on Spring Break next week so we will get help from them during the day. Everytime I think I am going to get to fall asleep at night, it doesn't happen- Darn! It is usually about the time I am about to start dreaming. Speedy is already back at work, so I have to keep telling him to go to sleep. He usually has to go to the guest room or to the living room, if not he will not get any sleep. I am hoping he will be sleeping a lot better when I go back to work in 2 months!

We have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I am so excited. Who would have thought- a doctor's appt would make me excited! I am going to dress him up in a newborn snuggly bear outfit I got from my nephew ( I think he wore it once!). Can't wait to take pictures, and good thing it got cold : )

We are Home!

Last night was our first night home with Jayden. Wow, let's just say I think we got 3 hours of total sleep each! And that's not all at once either. I think he has his days and nights switched around, which was that same way when he was in utero. I should have switched things around then! Every new parent always tells you these stories, but you do not realize it until you are going through it. We are hoping he will enjoy his days with us and sleep at nights soon!

So tradition in my family has always been to bring the newborn babies home from the hospital in yellow. My mom brought an outfit from Peru when she was there this past year. My little angel is so tiny, I had to fold his pants a couple of times. The carseat was huge on him too! Can't wait to see him fill his clothes out soon : )

Going Home Today!

We are getting ready to be discharged from the hospital. We are excited to be going home and starting our life with Jayden! Everything is great with Jayden- all his tests are good. He is nursing well and we are also supplementing with formula. He loves it when Daddy gives him a bottle! I definitely felt the pain of labor these last couple of days. My tailbone is getting better but that sucker was bruised or something. I also did get a 2nd degree episiotomy, so that is not fun- but I can't complain at all! The pain meds have been helping as well.

I told Speedy he has been awesome with Jayden. He asks so many questions and I'm surprised the nurses have not told him off yet, but they are so nice and helpful with all his questions. I could not have done any of this without him. I told him that on Tuesday night and he said- Thank you for bringing our beautiful son into this world!

Jayden Andrew Gonzales is here!

(See my previous blog for the beginning)
So things went pretty quickly after the pitocin, the epidural, my bag breaking. My Grandma and mom left the room about 330pm to get something to eat and then he was born at 410pm! I could not have asked for such a wonderful and beautiful (and PAIN FREE) labor and delivery! All these fears I had for all these years were vanished when I realized that our beautiful son was here! I prayed to God every night to help get through the nervousness, and he was really there for us.

Jayden was 6 lbs 5 oz and 20 inches long. He is a beautiful and healthy little boy! We are both doing great!

I'm in labor!!!!

I am in Labor & Delivery! So last night I was having contractions every 10 minutes. This morning I woke up at 6am, and I timed the contractions for an hour, and they were 3-6 minutes apart. I took a warm bath, and then called the answering service at 7am. Luckily my doctor was on call, and she told me to come in to office instead at 830. I cleaned up the kitchen while Speedy took a shower, and off we went. The nurse hooked me up to the monitors but couldn't pick up any of the contractions. Dr. Cohan came in and said you are not having any contractions! She then realized that the monitor was not hooked on right. She put on the monitor the right way and realized my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart! She then checked me and I was 5 cm dilated. She asked me if I was having any pain and I told her no, and sent us away to Labor and Delivery! So we've been here since 10 this morning. I already got pitocin, my epidural and Dr. Cohan broke my water. I am 6 cm at noon, and feeling great. Will write more later!

37 week appointment

Ok, another week down. We saw my doctor again. Everything is ok with Jayden and me. It is starting to get so routine. Speedy always jokes around before she comes in and we go through exactly what she is going to say- it never changes! So, I haven't dropped, and I am full term, but now she thinks he will go to my due date. AGGHHH!!!! So I was put on bedrest to stop preterm labor and now we have to go until March 19th? She said walking is an old wives tale. He'll come when he is ready. Ok, Jayden, you have a 2 week eviction notice from my uterus- You've been warned, mister. Ok, seriously, he needs to get a little bigger, though. The doc thinks he is only 6 lbs! I feel huge, but she did say I have huge fibroids in my belly that are taking up space too.

On another note, I was free today. We went to dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day (I was put on bedrest right before it) and then went shopping! My favorite : ) We had a yummy dinner at Churrascos and before we were about to leave, Speedy said, that guy looks just like Vince Young. (He saw him from a mile away!) I told him it was him. It was barely 6pm and he was dressed so casual with his girlfriend. So we asked the waitress to confirm, and sure enough it was him. So, Speedy and I went to the patio to ask for a picture and get an autograph (We blamed it on Jayden- sorry baby- we did it for you!) He was so nice and so was his girlfriend! I kept asking stupid questions- oh, so you are from Houston, and what high school did you go to. Speedy wanted to kill me. He was like Madison, babe! Anyways, we got a couple of pictures and an autograph for Jayden. I sure wish him well this season! What a nice guy!

36 Week Appointment

Ok, so I went in yesterday to see my doctor for 36 week appointment. She quickly checked the baby's position- he is still head down. I told her that the contractions are better with the medicine and the bedrest, but after next week, I have to go back to work. So, I am enjoying this nice little break. I thought I would be bored out of my mind, but no. I've been catching up on my reading- I just finished BabyWise, and now I'm onto Happiest Baby on the Block. And I've been eating nice home cooked meals (that my mom has been making)! I also lost 3 lbs from the last appointment. Everyone says near the end of the pregnancy you have no room to eat, no worries, I do not have that problem! So, after the appointment next week, we are going to the Galleria for 3 hours! I do not want to go to work, even though a couple days of working will bring him right out- I'm on my feet all day! So, now we are on the home stretch! I'm actually excited still. I'm not going to think about L&D yet. I will cross that road when I get there. The contractions do not hurt at all- just a lot of tightness. We asked the doctor yesterday how do we really know that it is a contraction- she said, it feels really tight and it feels like you can't talk. Well, I get that, and no pain (I know for now only), I'll take it!

The Finished Nursery

Here are some pictures of Jayden's finished room! Ok, it is almost done. I just ordered one more thing for the wall online. I went to 10 different stores looking for it, all over Houston, and that's probably why I started having stronger contractions! Well, anyways, no one had it, so I finally found it online and ordered today. Enjoy!
