3 weeks old

Jayden was 3 weeks old on Tuesday, March 24th. His umbilical cord also fell off that night at 430 in the morning! He is already getting so big and outgrowing his newborn clothes. Here are some pictures from this week. My cousin Charlie is holding Jayden in the picture (with help from my aunt!).

Happy St. Patty's Day and 2 weeks old birthday!

Jayden is two weeks old today on St. Patty's Day. His Grandma Gonzales bought him his First St. Patrick's Day shirt to celebrate the day. He is getting so big finally! He is also getting a little bit of colic. It is not terrible, but poor baby has some bad pain with it at times. I am trying Mylicon for now, but want to try Gripe Water next.
We hope everyone had a safe and fun day today and drank plenty of green beer for Speedy and I!

First Doctor's Appointment

Today we took Jayden to the doctor for his first doctor's appointment. He was hungry at the very same time we went in. I knew that was going to happen so I had a bottle ready. He was mad at the nurses for making him get naked and cried when he got weighed. The great thing was that he gained weight! He weighs 6 lbs 12 1/2 oz! Even the doctor was amazed how much weight he gained. (He left the hospital weighing 6 lbs 1 oz). He is still at the 25% percentile for weight.

It was also cold today so we were able to put his little bear outfit today. I think Mateo only wore it once because it is newborn size. Jayden is also finally able to start wearing 0-3 months. It still fits him big, but at least it does not fall off!

1 week old!

Jayden was a week old on Tuesday! Already, I know. He still has days and nights confused : ( My Grandma and sis in law are still here helping us. I don't know what I am going to do without them! My mother in law and sister are on Spring Break next week so we will get help from them during the day. Everytime I think I am going to get to fall asleep at night, it doesn't happen- Darn! It is usually about the time I am about to start dreaming. Speedy is already back at work, so I have to keep telling him to go to sleep. He usually has to go to the guest room or to the living room, if not he will not get any sleep. I am hoping he will be sleeping a lot better when I go back to work in 2 months!

We have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I am so excited. Who would have thought- a doctor's appt would make me excited! I am going to dress him up in a newborn snuggly bear outfit I got from my nephew ( I think he wore it once!). Can't wait to take pictures, and good thing it got cold : )

We are Home!

Last night was our first night home with Jayden. Wow, let's just say I think we got 3 hours of total sleep each! And that's not all at once either. I think he has his days and nights switched around, which was that same way when he was in utero. I should have switched things around then! Every new parent always tells you these stories, but you do not realize it until you are going through it. We are hoping he will enjoy his days with us and sleep at nights soon!

So tradition in my family has always been to bring the newborn babies home from the hospital in yellow. My mom brought an outfit from Peru when she was there this past year. My little angel is so tiny, I had to fold his pants a couple of times. The carseat was huge on him too! Can't wait to see him fill his clothes out soon : )

Going Home Today!

We are getting ready to be discharged from the hospital. We are excited to be going home and starting our life with Jayden! Everything is great with Jayden- all his tests are good. He is nursing well and we are also supplementing with formula. He loves it when Daddy gives him a bottle! I definitely felt the pain of labor these last couple of days. My tailbone is getting better but that sucker was bruised or something. I also did get a 2nd degree episiotomy, so that is not fun- but I can't complain at all! The pain meds have been helping as well.

I told Speedy he has been awesome with Jayden. He asks so many questions and I'm surprised the nurses have not told him off yet, but they are so nice and helpful with all his questions. I could not have done any of this without him. I told him that on Tuesday night and he said- Thank you for bringing our beautiful son into this world!

Jayden Andrew Gonzales is here!

(See my previous blog for the beginning)
So things went pretty quickly after the pitocin, the epidural, my bag breaking. My Grandma and mom left the room about 330pm to get something to eat and then he was born at 410pm! I could not have asked for such a wonderful and beautiful (and PAIN FREE) labor and delivery! All these fears I had for all these years were vanished when I realized that our beautiful son was here! I prayed to God every night to help get through the nervousness, and he was really there for us.

Jayden was 6 lbs 5 oz and 20 inches long. He is a beautiful and healthy little boy! We are both doing great!

I'm in labor!!!!

I am in Labor & Delivery! So last night I was having contractions every 10 minutes. This morning I woke up at 6am, and I timed the contractions for an hour, and they were 3-6 minutes apart. I took a warm bath, and then called the answering service at 7am. Luckily my doctor was on call, and she told me to come in to office instead at 830. I cleaned up the kitchen while Speedy took a shower, and off we went. The nurse hooked me up to the monitors but couldn't pick up any of the contractions. Dr. Cohan came in and said you are not having any contractions! She then realized that the monitor was not hooked on right. She put on the monitor the right way and realized my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart! She then checked me and I was 5 cm dilated. She asked me if I was having any pain and I told her no, and sent us away to Labor and Delivery! So we've been here since 10 this morning. I already got pitocin, my epidural and Dr. Cohan broke my water. I am 6 cm at noon, and feeling great. Will write more later!
